“Bought the rockmounts back stage for the back of the van to carry 2 electric bikes.
Just back from viewing lake eyre along the Oodnadatta track. The system is robust.
Dug up some dirt reversing, but had the plastic handle horizontal and out of the way. Bit of a heft to get the bikes on.
The plastic notched front bar and back strap offer no purchase or tension and unknown longevity but are doing the job for now. Both wheels are cupped forward as the bar is shorter than expected which is unsettling. Have a few rubber straps for reassurance, but no obvious attachment points.
Bikes rock fore and aft a bit so made a pad of aluminium sheet over foam taped to van rear window where the handlebar strikes.”
“Absolutly love the way it swings to the side allowing complete access to the rear of my ute, appears to be well made & a lot of thought has gone into it. The only downside is the weight, very awkward to move around once lifted off the towbar. I managed to overcome the problem by mounting a wheel on one end, (it cost me $4 in Bunnings) & wheel it like a wheelbarrow.
It would be a good idea if it came with a wheel from manufacture.”
“Just purchased this to carry out e-bikes on the back of our Toyota Coaster. Fantastic - as we have barn doors we needed something to swing right out of the way for complete access. this fits the bill perfectly and watching them, through rear camera, on our trip last week they did not move an inch or wobble around.

“So far I love this rack. It is strong and sturdy for my two ebikes and the best feature of all is the swing away which allows me to open the rear gate of my Jeep. Previously with other bike racks I could not open the back with the tilt feature, but it was a little easier with lighter pedal bikes.
Maybe only one issue I am getting used to is the bike platform sits quite high so one of my ebikes pushes the height above some carpark entry levels so I have to be cautious of this. It is also quite high to lift the bikes on to. This would get worse with larger tyres and/or lifts, but something I can get used to, but of course I am starting with a taller 4WD.
Maybe another down side is the handle for the swing away function is the most rear part of the vehicle when folded up. It would be easily broken if someone drove into it or walked into it. Perhaps that is why a second handle is included in the package though. Other than that protrusion, the rack folds up very nicely and neatly and fits the back of my Jeep very well.
Other than that too - A1 Roof Racks sent out the product quickly and efficiently and answered my initial questions, so overall, I am very happy with this purchase.
I hope to see the bike rack last the distance as I am a little worried about the four bolts holding each bike platform in place and the swaying and bouncing whilst travelling etc.

“Appears to be well made although heavy, the swing away system works great with my Prado! I now have complete access to the rear without having to take anything off, along with the 8in hitch exstension wich was needed, also needed the LED license plate holder and bracket for legalities. Dealing with A1 Roof Racks has been a delight and their prices are very resonable. Highly recommend!”
