“Although we followed the instructions on the tin, the finish left us with a much darker colour than 'Golden Oak' and a floor which continually marks. I am a wheelchair user and even after 3 weeks, it is impossible to ride over the floor without leaving marks. We will have to have the floor sanded and a new finish applied by a professional company. If you are thinking of going the DIY route, my advice would be DON'T.”

Hi, Thanks for your message. Here are some notes regarding the drying time and curing times of Blanchon Hard Wax Oil : • Dust-free drying:Approximately 4 to 6 hours (after polishing). • Drying before sanding/recoating: 6 to 8 hours under normal conditions. • Full hardness: 8 to10 days. • Full use of the area: 2 to 4 days after applying the final coat. • During the first few days, some simple precautions should be taken: do not cover with protective sheets or rugs. Remove dust with a vacuum cleaner, brush or cloth: do not use impregnated fabrics. Do not move heavy furniture around.Wipe down any water or other liquid spillages immediately and take particular care with flower pots.• Subsequently, protect the floor using felt underneath table and chair legs. If necessary, a good quality mat placed at the entrance to the room will retain dust and grit.

“Beautiful finish to use. Not sticky, unlike some hardwax oils and dries faster than most too. Choice of colours is an added bonus.”
