About AKRacing Australia:

AKRacing has come a long way since their inception in 2001, where their focus was solely on the production of race car seats. The AKRacing brand was previously known as AK Seat. Fast forward to 2008 and AKRacing now specializes in producing premium and ergonomic gaming and office chairs and equipment.

The AKRacing brand was introduced into the Australian market back in 2015, where they continue to operate out of the leafy green suburb of Kirrawee. AKRacing now has distributors all over the world - America, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Tahiti and Europe, just to name a few.

Something that sets AKRacing apart from their competitors is that they do 100% of their own designs, R&D, product development, testing and quality control. AKRacing highly guarantee their products, as they manufacture every single part, which means that they do not have to source these components from other suppliers, allowing them to ensure the quality is always consistent.

Currently AKRacing Australia offers their chairs in 3 different materials, which feature across 9 different chair series, boasting an impressive range of over 45 different chairs in total.

Brilliant service with prompt pre xmas delivery to SA. My son is rapt with his chair. It was fairly straight forward to put together (although specific instructions for that particular chair would be helpful) and it's apparently very comfortable because we hardly see him since it arrived!!!

As a bigger sized guy I have forever and a day had issues finding a gaming chair for everyday use that lasts. I had certain criteria in mind for a chair. I clock in at just under 160kg so I needed a chair that would hold my weight and then some for long periods of either gaming or craft use. It also had to last. I have had some chairs give out or the castors would break. If you buy a cheap chair don’t expect it to last very long, because it won’t. After researching a range I settled for this chair. Steel frame wide bodied construction and firm high density cushioning sounded like exactly what I was after. This chair is rated for 180kg which was the tipping point in my choice. Putting the chair together was an easy prospect and fairly straight forward. However the manual provided is kind of tiny so I used the online on-site assembly guide. They also recommend using only the tools provided, the two allen keys shown on the manual were not provided. Thankfully I have a well stocked tool bag, assembly it took less than half an hour. Is $500 too much to pay for a gaming chair? No, not really. Most high end generic office chairs can cost a lot more. This was built with gamers in mind, so it needs to be robust and be able to endure a lot of use. It shows in the quality of materials. The leather is very tough and the stitching is automotive high quality. The foam is indeed high density and was very firm. The broad back and bucket of the chair was a perfect fit. I didn’t feel squashed in and I felt very comfortable. Most gas lift chairs when I sit on them have that slight give, when I initially sit down, this did not budge so the gas lift piston does exactly what it says it will do. Actually the gas piston was at full height when I went to sit down and to my shock my feet didn’t touch the floor. I have not had that sensation since I was a kid. It was hilarious. The arm rests adjust in 4 different directions to suit your seating relaxing pose which is just fantastic. The back rest apparently adjusts back to almost lie flat but I have not tested this yet, and I doubt I will. The steel base is a welcome sight, one chair I had was supposedly solid plastic and hard wearing but one leg snapped 3 months in. Now to the castors, and here is where I differed from the stock. As solid and as well made as they feel, I hate castor wheels on office chairs with a passion. They damage floors and carpets and never seem to last regardless of manufacture. Plus all manner of things get caught in them. I decided to separately purchase Rollerblade wheel castors to go onto my chair and they fit it perfectly. To close out, I am extremely happy with this chair and down the line I hope to do a 3 month and 6 month review to show how it’s held up. If you are a larger, heavier or taller guy and want a quality gaming chair that lasts, this is it. $500 might look like a lot to spend on a chair but it’s quality of build, construction, and materials more that justifies that price. This is a heavy duty chair built to last, and it’s worth the purchase.
