“The packages arrived with only minor scratches and all components inside were in perfect shape. Assembly was complex and required very close attention to detail. Read through all included instructions and watch Aleko provided videos before doing anything. Don't pay too much attention to some of the DIY amateur videos because they can mess you up. To complicate issues, the instructions may have the motor on the right or left side. Larger awnings have a center arm which may fold one direction or the other. If you are not careful, you may be dissassembling things to get parts into the correct position. I did have to drill out 1/64 inch larger the screw holes that hold the main fabric cylinder together otherwise I stripped screw heads. Also, the slots that fabric feeds into are rough crosscuts on the ends and sharp enough to damage fabric. I used 180 sand paper rolled into a cylinder to smooth the openings. Once the awning was installed, I could not get the motor limit switches to work properly. Yes, they can be a challenge to adjust, but mine defied any adjustments. Otherwise everything was perfect. The awning went out smoothly and perfectly aligned. It came back in just as well. It looks just like the much more expensive awnings. It did take me awhile to figure out the motor would get hot after one or two extensions and retractions. It has an overheat switch that kicks in and then the motor is dead until it cools down again. I did eventually find specifications that stated about 4 minutes run time and 20 minutes cooldown. Normally this would not be a problem but it is a nuisance when you are trying to adjust limit switches that just won't adjust. Next, I figured out you have to wait a day or two to get responses from their technical support but they do respond. After sending a short video of my limit switch problem they determined that the switches were defective and they sent out a new motor since the switches are part of the motor. I decided to synch the remote and test the limit switches on the new motor before installing it on the awning. All seems good now and I am waiting for my "crew" to get together to get the awning down, put the new motor in, and get the awning back up again. Had there been no limit switch issue, this would have been a five star review because the awning is great. However, it has taken a couple weeks to get this cleared up and hopefully it is a very rare malfunction since others have not reported it.”
