The Aleko Awning DM45RM motor and 12 x 10 awning are good, but Tech Support from Aleko (www.AlekoAwning.com) is terrible! Tech Support Staff do not seem to want to solve customer concerns, they only try to prevent product returns to Amazon within 30 days of purchase. My additional concerns are as follows: 1.) Aleko Tech Support ignored my 3 telephone voice-mails over a 5 day period requesting a telephone call-back to either me or my Carpenter Contractor regarding Awning/Motor mounting and configuration concerns. 2.) Aleko DM45RM motor install instructions are very hard to read due to samll 5 pt font used, 12 x 10 Awning Instructions are hard to understand due to incomplete or unclear instructions, and some 12 x 10 Awning and Motor parts included for assembly did not match the original OEM Aleko instructions. I downloaded the latest online Aleko 12 x 10 Awning and Motor Install Instructions, but these also have incomplete instructions. 3.) I chose to purchase a 3rd frame bracket due to my concerns about uneven weight distribution of the awning with provided 2 frame brackets - this concern is not discussed in the install manual. The Awning Install instructions only discuss masonry installs with masonry anchors they included - installs for wood frame studs with lag bolts are not even mentioned. 4.) Aleko Awning/Motor install instructions are very basic and limited on how to raise the 12 x 10 Awning slope when the Awning is fully extended by the DM45RM motor. The awning is mounted 8' 6" high from our deck floor and after adjusting the mounting brackets the awning extends so it is 4' 5" off of the ground & I cannot raise it higher unless I retract the awning and lose coverage size. The OEM slope estimate provided in the Awning Install Manual and product specifications DOES NOT MATCH the actual install measurements 5.) CAUTION: The Aleko DM45RM motor seems to retract OK after motor adjustment, but the motor does not stop when extending the awning after multiple motor adjustment attempts. 6.) Either the manual raise/lower rod or the DM45RM can be installed, however they cannot both be installed at the same time. The Aleko instructions are very unclear on how to correctly install the motor and which parts to remove on BOTH sides of the mounting brackets. In summary, the basic product is good, I was able to eventually figure out how to correctly install both the awning and motor after an extended period of time, and Aleko Products Tech Support cannot be trusted to provide quality or timely tech support and their printed instructions are horribly incomplete! пїЅ

The instructions are not very well written and are hard to understand! It took a good bit of time to make the proper adjustments to get the motor to extend and retract the awning. The removal of the mechanical crank and installation of the electrical motor wasn't too difficult if you are mecanically inclined. I found that it is much easier to use cotton cord to keep the awning from springing open during the process of installing the motor and mounting it into the wall brackets. A large hammer drill will make installing the three(3) wall brackets a lot easier to accomplish! пїЅ

before you start this install. make sure you wrap something around both ends of the canvas to keep it from unrolling, i used two bungee cords, then lay the awning on a large flat surface or two sawhorses.to install, remove the end bracket, loosen the bolt on the square bracket, tap to remove from the end. unscrew the hand crank assembly. there is a Phillips head screw underneath the tube near the end. remove this screw. then you can use vise grips to grip the round metal post on the end of the tube. pull gently and remove. before you install the green motor assembly. there is a plastic cog like wheel, install this on the opposite end of the motor from the corded end. then use the black clip to clip the wheel onto the end so it will not come loose upon installation,.push motor tube into assembly gently, until seated properly. it must fit tight against the alum tube. then install bent metal clip on the square end of the motor, using one of the metal pins as shown in diagram #3, bend the ends around. then you can re-install the square bracket on the end, using the long machine bolts that you removed, they may be too long. you might have to find shorter machine screws. and screw them into the bent metal bracket. when you install the motor make sure the adjustment area is accessable, for adjustments. you will need to make sure to have an electrical plug near by. your cord is 18' long. I will be doing the adjustments another day. everyone is right, actual instructions would be very helpful. I thank the gentlemen that gave some instructions earlier, they were helpful. I wanted to give more detail.i tested the motor and it extended and retracted, just need to adjust the opening and closing. by the way I installed under the roof instead of on a wall. so the pitch of the roof will affect the front height, if you are mounting under the roof rafters, you will need to adjust the angle of the brackets or your awning will very low in the front when extended. пїЅ
