“Opon first time closing the gate a tooth broke off. I didn't hear or see anything strange until I tried to open it and heard a clunk clunk sound. I then removed the guard to move the controller in further toward the rack to use what was left of the tooth. I also had to lift the gate and change where the gate terminates in relation to the chipped off tooth. I also changed the limit switch to be safe. Seems to work ok now-with a broken tooth. The original gear lasted several years with substantial abuse. Maybe it was too cold for the material. Nylon usually has some give.”

“The plastic sliding gate gears add a layer of protection to the system. I recently had a contractor try to open my gate and broke the gear by prying with something. I replaced the gear and the gate is working great again. the board on the other hand also failed after 1 + years of use. It is not conformal coated and the box is not sealed so it oxidized in several places. So I'm going to coat mine so it doesn't happen again.”
