“So I already own these in both Black and the Monaco Blue, and recently ordered them in the Sunwashed Blue. All 3 fabrics have different amounts of stretch, and this dramatically impacts the comfort of the jeans and how they do/don't "break in" over time.
I wear a 27W in AT's Brittany Bootcut Jeans and in the Black Georgias, but these lighter blue denim fabrics seem to barely stretch! My Monaco Georgias are a 28W and were stiff/tight when I first purchased them back in 2022, but the Sunwashed Georgias I just ordered were SO TIGHT in the leg I could barely get them on! Once I got them up the waist and hip are fine, so I don't think sizing up to a 29W would help. It's really the narrow cut down through the leg that is the problem. The black fabric has enough stretch that this is fine, but the two light blue colors don't and it's really restricting. The leg is tight even down near the calf.
I don't mind breaking jeans in and think when you're buying a new pair, jeans should be a bit of a "struggle" to get on since they always stretch a bit with wear. I've owned my Monaco Georgias since May of 2022 and wear them all the time, so they've been thoroughly broken in. They're still pretty tight behind the knee and, because of this, are not as comfortable as my other AT jeans, including the Black Georgias. The lack of stretch in the lighter blue fabrics really impacts the fit. I would love to have these in the lighter colorways, but AT needs to either 1. find light fabrics with the same stretch properties as the black fabric, or 2. adjust their pattern block to give more ease in the leg for jeans made in their current Monaco and Sunwashed fabrics. We're sorry that the jeans have different levels of stretch. Different styles will have different fabric compositions, some styles will have more spandex, therefore more stretch. 5'10" 150lbs, I ordered a 27"x35" b/c my normal mid rise pants are this size but exchanged for a 29"x35". They fit much better around the waist and throughout the legs. And are plenty long enough!!
The exchange process was super simple. The bag my order came in was able to be re-used (be careful opening there's a special line so you can reseal the bag as an exchange) and I printed a return slip from my computer at home.
There are minor imperfections in the dying (I got the white wash) but I still look great! The pants are real Jean instead of a legging feel, which I love.
I will be buying another pair of the high rise in another dye. And some mid rise styles too.”
