“I've used all the major platforms, and Motivewave is without question the best of them all. I use it for extremely low-resolution daytrading; the average duration of my open positions is less than 15 seconds. I don't use algorithmic trading nor HFT of any kind. My protocol requires precise price, volume and volatility data from two different feeds with extremely fast order execution. I also need to create and analyze synthetic instruments that I use to gauge market sentiment and volatility. Motivewave delivers all this.
Additionally, right out of the box its cumulative delta tool is the absolute best in class, as is its DOM. Lastly, I rely on 2 custom Motivewave studies tools that I hired a software developer to design for me: and because Motivewave is based on Javascript, I can rest assured those tools will work well when I move to Linux from the Apple platform.
My only beef with the company is that for some reason I can't discern, not necessarily their fault, Motivewave clients can't create a VIX chart using the economical CQG feed: we're obliged to use IQFeed for an exponentially higher fee, or separately maintain a Tradingview account to analyze it through Tradingview's less robust feed. That's an additional cost to the user, and a real pain in my trading protocols.”
“THE GOOD:
It really is a very full-featured platform, just like OverCharts, which I have been using for many years.
MW has the advantage of being an “all-in-one” platform, so there is no need to purchase third-party packages.
In my case, I work with order flow tools, and I can say that it is one of the best.
THE BAD:
Since the middle of last year, MV launched its new version V7. Unfortunately, they have had many problems with this new version. They released 13 betas and have already had 15 releases of the live version. There have been performance issues, especially slowness of the platform.
Many traders and I are still working with V6 because of its stability and reliability; it is the best.
CONCLUSION:
It is an excellent platform for traders who really take advantage of the features of MV's order flow tools.
