“This wallet is very special to me. I emailed a request to see different versions to determine the specific character/figuring that I liked best. This was as close as you can get to shopping in a store. Matt sent me front and back pics of several wallets, allowing me to select the one that I liked the looks of best. The wallet arrived perfectly crafted- not a stitch out of place, no blemishes. English Tan Dublin is a traditional leather with a satin shine and diverse color and figuring with each piece. I was surprised to see an intense shine develop only after a few weeks of use. This is a wallet that improves with age like a fine wine. I, usually, prefer shell cordovan for it's feel, glassy shine, and distinct smell- but, this leather has something that you'll never get with shell. Dublin has TEXTURE. There is a much more defined grain texture, and skin wrinkles look like "cracks" that provide color deviation that you don't usually find in shell. This is a beautiful piece that I love pulling out every time. Although, I miss those distinguished Horween stamps- this wallet is still a gem that I get plenty of compliments on. I save my shell cordovan for nice dinner, weddings, and such. My Dublin is my everyday tank that still sets me apart. The Tony the Ant is also, my favorite wallet design. It's small, unique, and very efficient. I wish the bill slot was a LITTLE larger, to better accommodate inserting cash. But, I'm sure the leather will give more with use. I really want to try a Fat Herbie to see if it's better for this.”
“Alex - Country Vic, Australia
Bought a "Tony the Ant" to replace an overpriced 'genuine leather' wallet I had for years, I wish id made the switch earlier, this thing is fucking nice - clean, simple and made by someone that obviously cares about their craft! keep up the amazing work”
“Quality built with waxy-feeling English Tan Dublin leather. After almost 1 year wearing in my back pocket, the patina showing darker color and shining.”
“Just wanted to say that my son loves his Tony The Ant wallet in English Tan Dublin.
He came home from the Marines a week before Christmas and I noticed the ratty wallet he was using. I immediately sent an email to Phil asking if they could get a wallet out in time for Christmas and they did it in record time. Thanks Phil and the folks at Ashland Leather, he absolutely was thrilled with his new wallet.”
“The Tony the Ant wallet is, first of all, a really well thought out design. The leather is just beautiful and the craftsmanship is superb. I've put 12 blank credit cards in the interior slots to stretch the leather a little and it takes them without breaking a sweat. If one were to share the cash flaps on the exterior, the wallet would accommodate even more cards. When it comes to wallets, I usually go for practicality over beauty, but in the case of the Tony the Ant, I get both, and I'm very happy with this purchase. The folks at Ashland Leather really know what they're doing, and I have no hesitation in recommending them.”
“I'm really liking this wallet so far. The Dublin leather is beautiful, the design of the wallet is so simple and solid. My last wallet had paper thin leather compared to this, and it lasted 15 years, so I wouldn't be surprised if this wallet outlasts me. I appreciate that it's all leather - no fabric or clear plastic bits that'll inevitably wear out first. The one nitpicky thing I could say is that there's a small area of what looks like sewing machine tension issues - the threads from the bottom were pulled up and just peek out a bit on the top, but other than that the stitching and finishing is very neat. No loose threads or anything like that.”
“I bought this wallet originally because I wanted to add a bifold with a bill slot to my collection, and the Tony the Ant looked up to the task.
When it arrived at my door and I took it out of the packaging, I was immediately impressed by the level of finishing. I don't think I've seen edge burnishing as smooth as this wallet does anywhere else. The English Tan Dublin leather is stunning. It's a beautiful orange-brown with fantastic grain character and pull-up, and out of the box it feels rich and supple.
After a few weeks of daily use, I can wholeheartedly recommend this wallet if you're looking for a more compact and unique twist on a standard bifold. It definitely has more presence in the pocket than the cardholder wallets I'm used to, but it doesn't feel massive or extremely bulky.”
