“This is my second purchase from Ashland Leather and both of them have been in the English Tan Dublin. I love this leather for the depth of color, subtle look of the grain texture and the overall tactile feel. To me, it feels (and smells) like a classic good leather should.
I first ordered a Frank the Enforcer in the English Tan Dublin and that will be my go-to, front pocket, minimalist wallet when I wear a pair of summer shorts for knocking about town or on vacation. I throw some cash in the center pocket, add a credit card or two and my driver's license and I'm set.
This Bugs Moran could be easily used a daily carry wallet for me but I think I'll end up using it as a really nice business card case. I have several different businesses I run and I'll place three different business cards in there with the 4th slot reserved for when I get business cards from others. That is, once the pandemic has passed and I get to see people face-to-face again! I didn't wait to get the wallet though and I'm glad I didn't. I love it!
The proportions of the Bugs Moran are perfect. Just big enough to handle cash and cards but as small and slim as possible to keep it sleek and easy to carry. My Bugs Moran is 9.7mm in overall thickness (empty) which is only 1mm thicker than my Frank the Enforcer at 8.7mm thick. The thickness of each individual piece of leather is excellent too at about 1.2mm thick according to my caliper. The leather feels substantial like it will wear well but it is supple and pleasing to the touch. Stitching is perfect and the thread color matches the leather quite well.
All in all, I'm extremely happy with this Bugs Moran wallet and I highly recommend it and Ashland Leather in general. Phil and Ashland Leather do a superlative job. I love the website and videos too. “I stumbled upon Ashland by chance when looking into boots made with Horween leather. Coincidentally, my 17 year old wallet was coming apart as the stitching had failed. So, when I started looking through all of the Ashland wallets I figured it was a fine time to replace. My current wallet was similar in design to the Bugs Malone and I wanted to stick with that style as I use a money clip for my bills. I opted for the English Tan Dublin as it's a great looking leather and was in line with what I wanted to spend. The patina should also look great as it develops.
