After buying a Camp Chef and a Z Griill both of which started giving trouble after three years of use, I believe I’ve hit a home run with the 640s. It’s head over heels better than other brands.

Ok i love to barbecue. Am a huge fan of the Big Green Egg. Recently started smoking with a Backwards Smoker, so yes I barbecue a lot. Started looking at pellet grills when it takes about 16 hours to cook a brisket. Did a ton of research and narrowed it down to Lone Star Grilz and Yoder. The deciding factor came down to price and shipping. The Lone Star was $725 more. My biggest concerns between the two is the Lone Star has a pellet dump, the removable ash bin and the 40 lb hopper on the Lone Star. The main reason I focused on these 2 brands was quality of build and the Fireboard controller. I use a Fireboard on my smoker and love it. I have been using this pellet grill a lot and here is what I found. 40 lbs of pellets, nice, but don't see why I need so many. The removable ash tray quickly became a non issue. It is super easy to remove the ash tray from the Yoder, maybe easier because you don't have to bend down under the smoker. And lastly, the pellet dump. Yes I wish Yoder had one, takes about 5 minutes to manually remove the pellets. In all fairness, I very rarely will change pellets unless cooking chicken, maybe use a Hickory. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. Yes I would buy it again. The deciding factor was after I put this in my cart, I didn't pull the trigger. Yoder sent me an email with a coupon for the free Grill Grates. Well, that did it.

I was frustrated with my cheaper smoker so I decided to up my game with a Yoder. The YS640S arrived one week ago and three smokes later, I could not be more pleased. I smoked two large pork shoulders for 16 guests and the pulled pork was so favorable that everyone was talking about it. I used both upper and lower racks, the ACS took care of the temps and both shoulders were ready for rest in only 8.5 hours. Great smoke ring and perfectly rendered fat. For the first time ever I was totally pleased with my smoke. Thanks, Yoder for giving me my confidence back. I love my 640S!

This Yoder YS640 smoker performs beyond my highest expectations! Temperature stability is the best of any cooking device I have ever owned, including our very expensive Viking ovens! With the set temperature at 225, it never dropped below 220 degrees or above 234 degrees over a 16 hour brisket cook. My Traeger would swing between 185 and 255 degrees. The brisket was perfect, as was everything else I have cooked to date. The thing is literally built like a tank, rock solid in every aspect! I do have a tiny complaint and one suggestion. The LCD screen needs to be able to tilt up to be easier to read while standing, and it would be nice to have a storage drawer in the Competition Cart. That’s it, no other complaint of any kind. This is one outstanding pice of equipment!

This smoker is wonderful. The quality is 5x better than my prior smoker. The thick steel and and precision manufacturing doesn’t leak any smoke. The ability to sear is just great. My first Brusket was just awesome. I have had friends stop by to check it out.

Great pellet grill. I did about 8 months of researching different grills and decided on the Yoder YS640s and I am very pleased. Being able to smoke and sear on the same smoker is a great option. Built like a beast.
