“I struggled with using these presets when I first bought the 2021 versions. There were raving reviews and I loved the look, but seemed like they didn't really work with any of the photos that I took, making them all dark and funky colored and really tricky to fine tune. I admit it was discouraging at first when my photos weren't coming out like so many of the examples I had seen. I usually had to change every single edit setting in order to get a workable photo with the preset. I think maybe I wasn't taking the right kind of photos with the right settings? I couldn't figure out if it was me or the preset... but I'm pretty sure it was me. I'd love a little class on what types of photos/camera settings/environments work best with these beautiful presets!
It was a tough go at first, but I stuck with learning how to adapt and get the most out of them, as well as discovering how they worked, and it has taught me so so much as an editor, even if the presets themselves don't work in a few clicks for me as they do others, yet. As I have started to understand them and my camera better, Seasons Presets click a little more and more... and the updated 2023 AI version is awesome and so fun to tinker around with, and I noticed is even more applicable to my photographs. I do love the variety and the love that has seemed to go into them, and I'm excited to learn how to use them to create beautiful work as I figure them out even more! Hi Auburn! I'm so grateful for your honest review, and we completely understand about the 2021 version of Seasons. We're so proud of the 2023 release and are so confident in the variety and versatility of these presets for your images.
I tested the presets on every camera/lens files I could get my hands on, but the common factor between all files and whether Seasons worked well on them was that they were RAW with accurate/semi-accurate White Balance. Seasons will work best if you shoot in RAW and do your best to choose the correct white balance (if Auto White Balance isn't giving you accurate colors during your shoot, switch to Kelvin and manually choose, especially in blue hour/cool moments as that can really impact skin tones).
