This superb oregano oil is steam distilled from Certified Organic Origanum vulgare plants (the true oregano) wild-grown and handpicked in the mountains of Turkey, and contains at least 80% carvacrol, the antioxidant primarily responsible for oregano’s natural antiseptic effect against pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Other phenols (including thymol) and esters add to the antibacterial and antifungal power. Since pure oregano oil is too strong for use on the body, this offering has been diluted with extra virgin olive oil from Victoria’s Grampians Region in a 1:4 ratio according to European standards.
