This mic is definitely a good mic, the sound quality is awesome. The big issue I have with this mic is it does not stay on the head tight enough and the silver arm is a little too flimsy that is does not stay in place while teaching high impact classes, such as BodyCombat. I do like the mic, but I feel it could be much better either by making the actual head piece a little smaller and the silver arm sturdier.

I've had this mic for 2 weeks now. I teach in a high school gym (full-size basketball court). I have about 80 students in the room. The back row students commented that they can now understand what I'm actually saying. This mic is very clear - no muffled 'drive-thru' sound. Cons: this mic has a rechargeable battery...which as you may know, when they run out of juice, there is no notice - they are just gone. I do not have the ability to charge the mic on-site, so I have to take it home to charge. I have forgotten to bring it twice now (in just 2-weeks). I would rather have it run on AA or AAA...You can tell when the juice is getting low - and you can replace the battery and continue teaching! Also, the wire that runs from the ear piece to the mouth piece is very thin and flexible/moveable. It does not stay in place as I am jumping around - and therefore my voice is not being projected properly at all times. I never had this problem with the Airline 77 that I've had for about 8 years.

The sound quality is great on this microphone. Really love the mute feature and sweat proof design. Like that we won't use multiple batteries each week in headset however we have some charging issues with the magnet staying put. We have had it a few weeks and are having similar charging issues to other reviewers. The magnet is easily detached and might not be noticed meaning not enough charge to get through all classes. We actually hooked up our older airline 77 back to sound system to use when the new 88 is not charged enough. Also several instructors have trouble getting the mic to stay on there ears. Slips off frequently on those with smaller heads or ears. I actually have to loop it over a fabric headband to get it to stay on for my barre class. We also have had 2 windscreens tear already and you can't buy replacements yet... They are coming soon.

We have just installed the Samson Airline 88 microphone about a week ago. It definitely has a great sound! My main concern is the rechargeable battery connection. It does not plug in but there is a magnetized connection. So we had to tape the cord inside our stereo cabinet so that it would go directly to the microphone. If the cord hangs down, it is easily disconnected. There was no marking on the cord end as to top either. Several times it has not been connected properly so the next instructor who came in did not have a microphone to use because it was not charged. I did mark the top and have let instructors' know they need to be very careful to make sure the connection is good. The sound like I said is much better. The "mechanics" I think need some adjustment.

This is a wonderful set that you will not be disappointed in (unless you have too much television frequency interference in your area). I cannot foresee that being an issue, though, as I am only 35 miles SW of Chicago and my instructors are getting no interference, at all. The headset is extremely easy to set up (and reset a channel, if necessary). It is light and comfortable considering it has an internal, rechargeable battery...which tends to be a little on the hefty side. The instant---EASY TO FIND WHILE WEARING--- "mute" button is a very nice addition to this set, also! The only thing I do NOT like, however, is the magnetic charging port. You have to have the cord positioned properly so it can make the necessary connection to charge. I would rather have a mini-USB that will not come off unless you pull it. With the magnetic plug, the headset has to be set down a certain way and the plug "rests" on top of it...that is the only way it will work. It eliminates the possibility of hanging the headset to save space in and around the stereo cabinet. Plus, if you accidentally bump against the headset, or move it, while it is charging, the "plug" will fall off as the magnets aren't that strong to withstand that jarring. If you don't notice that you have done that, then it's not charging for the next class...which is a problem. I really cannot attest to the longevity of the charge as I make sure it is placed back on the charger, but with the batteries being Lithium Ion (like in your smartphone), I am sure they last for hours before needing a charge. We have been using the Samson Airline 77 in our other two Studios for close to 3 years and have really grown to love the Samson products. The 88 seems to be more sealed to keep any sweat out of it which was one of the biggest issues with the 77 as sweat would get inside by the "mute" and "Power" switches, rust the connections, and render those switches inoperable forcing me to send it out for repairs. Also, the microphone on the 88 seems to be more resilient to damage from the constant adjusting as the mic on the 77 was....again, causing it to be sent out for repairs. When I say that I had to send the older 77s out for repairs, repeatedly, it is because my club has over 5000 members and the headsets (and backups) were used for between 1-10 45 min to an hour classes per day...364 days a year. That being said, the Samson line of wireless headsets are absolutely wonderful. If you can afford to buy, then I highly recommend them. Love that this mic doesn't require a mic belt and that the headset is rechargeable. The headset is lightweight. Set up and take down are quick. I wish the boom was a little tighter/more stiff. It wobbles when I teach, so I adjust it frequently because its placement affects the volume. After having the mic for a month, I've had numerous issues and have been in touch with Samson tech support many times. The headset currently won't pair, so I'm unable to use it at this time. I had this issue previously and thought it was resolved but it's obviously not. I also have had trouble with not getting any sound/signal even when it indicates that it has paired on a given channel. Our sound support tech where I teach thinks this has to do with the channel frequencies and seemed to temporarily solve this issue. Overall, given the number of issues I've had, I can't recommend it.
