“Purchased 2 of these tops & the M fit like an xs to me. My daughter couldn't wear it either. Gave them to my granddaughter who is only 9.5. Slightly long on her but she's a gymnast & said she'd wear them.”

I'm sorry to hear that the tops didn't fit as expected. While it's disappointing that neither you nor your daughter could wear them, it's great that your granddaughter can still enjoy them. Our tops are designed with a fitted style and tend to run on the tighter side. For future reference, there is a sizing chart on the product page.
