It was such a nice experience. The indigenous woman first explained to us how they used to live and what objects they had for hunting. Then we were shown the different signs in the sand and were allowed to guess what they meant and then we were allowed to paint them ourselves. Unfortunately, it was relatively warm, so the acrylic paints kept drying out, but the supervisor came round and made them liquid again with water.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Dot Painting Workshop in Uluru. Valerie was great at explaining what the different traditional tools were used for and what the drawings represented, and produced some amazing dot paintings herself. The gentleman who led the class was also very knowledgeable and shared stories of the local culture with us. He was very patient when we took a little longer than the allocated time to finish our paintings!

A wonderful experience where we learned about the Aboriginal painting interpretation, meaning of colours and then painted our own. While there are free painting sessions, this was a holistic class where you learn about culture and language.

Grâce à Alice et son interprète j’ai pu cerner un peu mieux la richesse des œuvres de peinture à points et même tenter d’en créer une, personnalisée.

I really enjoyed this experience in Uluru. It was a wonderful setting and the information and explanation about the art gave me a greater understanding of the culture and the land. I enjoyed doing the dot painting and watching the artist doing her masterpiece at the workshop. It was great to watch. Just an amazing experience I will always treasure.
