I highly recommend this tour if you'd like to know the area. The drive is long but not tedious as we have stops on the way. Our guide was Sarah and she shared information about the places we stopped and had some fun information to make the trip more enjoyable. The time we have at Mt Cook is enough to complete the longer (3h walk) walk.

Great day to see Mt Cook. It is a bit of a drive but - like a lot of people - if you are in Queenstown for a week you don't have a car and the departure from Base Backpackers was easy (Even though we were staying at a hotel just down the road... could walk the few hundred metres to the pick up point). This is a MUST DO for NZ holiday.

The scenery was breathtaking, and the tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The only downside was that the bus seats were a bit uncomfortable, but that was a minor issue that didn't detract from the overall experience. Highly recommended!

The pictures don't do the lake near Mt.Cook justice - with the glacier runoff the colours are incredible. You really need to see it with your own eyes. That was the highlight of the tour for me.
