“I wish I had an experience to properly review. Sadly, after booking my scuba adventure on the Great Barrier Reef (and booking a LOT of complicated travel plans around said that adventure), the tour plans were cancelled with less than 24 hours notice (this was outside the original agreement that suggested a minimum 48-hour cancellation policy on the company's behalf).
I had purchased this experience partly using a $200 voucher I received from Backpacker Deals's partnership with Greyhound; and because of the last-minute cancellation notice, I was not able to properly get a refund + a new voucher during the time I was still traveling in the area. Because I was traveling and no one was willing to take ownership between the companies at play, I was the one who lost out on the $200. Really disappointing experience.
Additionally, the voucher's terms and conditions changed multiple times (and weren't even available on either website at my time of purchase); these TOCs limited how I could use the voucher, which made attempting to book a replacement experience even more difficult.
The staff at BD was very sweet and did offer alternatives, but their suggestions were not close to the same scuba experience I had booked. Backpacker Deals made it very clear that they would not take responsibility for the cancellation or for the $200 voucher, and they were not flexible in the newly adjusted terms and conditions.”
