“When my last pair of beloved and beaten white sneakers died a noble death, I was excited to finally order these. Except my size was sold out. I spent months coming back to check if they'd been restocked. I signed up for a re-stock notification too, but you still gotta check up on these things. One night I checked and miraculously my size had been restocked (I hadn't received a notification, it was just a single pair rather than a true restock) so I pounced like a woman who had been out of lockdown for two months and ready to wear new shoes. Because that's what I was.
I guess I'm thankful that during the lockdown my shoe-wearing was mostly confined to a pair of uggs — because if I'd owned these shoes then I'd have needed more excuses to do things out of the house, where people could admire my impeccable (but sensible) taste. I love these shoes dearly and irrationally. They're supportive, steady and super refined. Like, they look crafted and thoughtful. I got the star-backed style and the gold hardware punctuates the shoe without being too flashy. The leather is lovely and thick. I have wide feet and didn't need to change the insoles. They rubbed the back of my right foot on first wear but have softened up.
The only problem is that I'm in lockdown again and the only place I'm going to soon is the supermarket. But at least I'll be wearing great shoes... and I can stop refreshing this damn product page.”
