Sadly, I couldn't resolve the heel slip issue, despite following the advice of the (very helpful and professional) salesperson in store to add a half insole under each footbed.
As a result, I have worn away the leather lining on the inside heel of the right hand shoe, and some skin to boot (pun intended :-).”
