“THis review is mostly about the sizing. I'm 40 and so I think I know my size pretty well... I've ALWAYS been a US 8.5 or 9. Maybe 8 once in a blue moon. I measured my foot several times and I am exactly 9.7" - which is EXACTLY the size of Bared's 39 (US 8.5-9). I don't think I have wide or narrow feet?
So I thought I was going pretty crazy when I felt like these shoes were flopping around so much on my feet. I put in the inserts but it just felt like I was wearing huge shoes with stuff in them.
I kept re-measuring myself. I tightened the strap to the second tighest hole (which made the shoes look even more goofy on my feet.) I think it is just because their customer service never suggested I had the wrong size, and they are so adamant about NOT sizing down, it made me feel all the more confused.
However, I am giving a neutral review because they did let me size down to a 38 for free. The 38 fits my 9.7" long foot perfectly. Plenty of toe space.”

We are so sorry to hear that the Avocet shoes in your regular size 39 didn't feel right. The Avocets have an average to wide fit and the elongated toe area can feel quite spacious depending on the foot type of the person wearing it.
We do our very best to recommend styles to customers, but to know if the shoes are truly going to fit, we really do need our customers to try them on. Feet are very different from one person to the next which means suggesting the right size online without seeing your feet in person is very challenging for us. Regardless, we completely understand it’s disappointing when the shoes don’t work out.
