Hey Joshua, Sorry to hear our leather band is not what you were expecting. We would like to assure you that our leather is high quality. It is in fact top grain bovine leather. Portions of the cowhide are hand selected specifically for use in our products and the leather is aniline dyed. The smell of the bands should provide one of several indicators that it is authentic. It should not smell like chemicals or plastic, but instead have the familiar natural smell of any fine leather product. Like I said in my short synopsis of my review, I do have a couple things I want to mention that I’ve found annoying about the watchband. The band comes with two loops to hold the extra part of the band from flapping around while using it. I’ve always found two loops keep the “tab” in place longer through the day than just one but this band has the first loop sewn in place so close to the buckle that it is extremely difficult to get the “tab” into the loop. I eventually gave up and removed it because it was so annoying. The second loop moved around on the band and was easily put onto a positron that held the band but does not stay long.
Also, for those of you that may have never bought a real leather band before, make sure to give the band a really good oil with a high quality leather oil because the band comes very dry in the box. It never mentions that you need to do this but it is imperitive that this happens to ensure the long life of the band.
Overall, this is a great watchband for its price. Though there may be a couple annoying things that I have found with the band, I would highly recommend this band to a friend. Hope this helps with your decision!”
