“I'm still looking for a way to feed the cardinals and frustrate the grackles who scare away the smaller birds.
I had Gold Finches and House Finches and Cardinals and Titmice and Chickadees. I had a suet feeder that attracted Downeys and Hairies and ocasionaly Redbellies and Flickers.
But then the grackles came. oof.
Even at the lightest setting and with no suet out the grackles scare off all of the smaller birds and empty the Squirel Buster.
Oof.
I'm going to try a cage feeder next. Sorry Cardinals.”
“I'm having a hard time keeping grackles from the feeder. Perhaps there is no way to deter them, but I thought if the Squirrel Buster feeder would keep squirrels from the feeder, it would also keep large grackles from stealing the food. I have changed and adjusted the spring, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.”
“I am not a fan of the design. To refill, you about have to take it apart and put it back together. It should be much easier to do. As it is, I spill a ton, trying to refill it.”
“So far the feeder works as it should. A little hard to tell what weight limit it's at. Seems to attract the smaller birds as it sits now. Weight limit can vary with the amount of seed is put in. But no complaints, no squirrels.”
“I am very happy with the feeder! The birds love it, it is easier for larger birds to perch and eat, and the squirrels have not even tried to get into it. Great product!”
