I recently received the Cardinals Crave Seed Cake with my new seed/suet cake feeder. I was immediately impressed by the mix of seeds - lots of the good stuff, no junk seeds. The birds really like it. I've had Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers and Black-Capped Chickadees try it, so far. The Northern Cardinals are eyeing it up too. I'll have to put it in a place where they can better reach it. One other thing that is nice, the seed cake has a hole in the middle that would fit a cake stack feeder or could be used to hang it on a twig or other device. These cakes are not as gluey or messy as many other brands of seed cakes. The birds are able to feed easily. Birds Choice always has the best of everything. Very pleased.

I recently received a duel suet feeder and these were in included, so I decided to try them out right away. So far they have been attracting some local sparrows but no Cardinals yet. I only get Cardinals every so often in my backyard, so im hoping these start to make a difference! Easy to unpackage and load into the feeder.

Within minutes of placing these seed cakes in the feeder we had Downy & Hairy Woodpeckers & Blue Jays feeding. Squirrels love it too! Highly recommend!

The cake is packaged nicely and the cake is firm and not crumbly. The seed appears fresh. My rating "acceptable" is due to the presence of millet (filler grain) vs. one of the species favorite food, safflower. I know Cardinals will eat millet, but safflower (and Nautrasaf) is not only one of their favorites, it serves as a deterant to other species who are not in the Grosbeak family.

Within minutes of hanging these cakes up for the birds I had visitors. Lots of visitors and not just cardinals. We've had a relatively mild winter so our backyard friends haven't been that reliant on what we put out but that didn't keep them from getting a taste. Cardinals, chickadees, and several different species of woodpecker have all come for a bite. Look forward to seeing how longe these last before I need to order some more.

Unfortunately, no birds have eaten any of the seed cake. If it's especially for cardinals, perhaps the problem is that the feeder doesn't really accommodate cardinals. At any rate, no birds at all have eaten either of the Cardinals Crave Seed Cake in the feeder.
