I've had the Brydge backlit keyboard for about a week now. I am using it with my 2017iPad, replacing a Logitech Ultrathin board that didn't work with my new device. I wanted a keyboard that was backlit and this seemed, from all the reviews, to be the best out there. There are good things, and not so good, about the Brydge keyboard. Pros: This is a high-quality sturdy keyboard. Metal, solid, efficient. Makes your iPad into a tiny computer, and the keyboard protects the iPad screen when it's closed. Backlight works really well and three levels of intensity is a nice touch. Also, the customer service is top-notch. I had some problems upon delivery and when I called them they arranged to send me another keyboard with expedited delivery, at no charge. Very professional and helpful. Those things being said: Cons: I have two big issues with this keyboard: 1) It is EXTREMELY HEAVY. The IPad becomes a little brick once you attach it to this keyboard. In my mind this negates one of the primary reasons I use the iPad- it's lightweight and easy to travel with. 2) Its very difficult to quickly release the iPad from the keyboard. With the Logitech keyboard I could instantly release it from its magnetic "channel" - something I did often every day. On the Brydge keyboard the hinges with which the iPad is attached to to unit have rubber linings which make removing the iPad from them a real job. I have to put the unit on a hard surface and really pull up on both sides of the iPad to get it out. (By the way the keyboard comes with rubber linings that only fit the iPad Pro - you need to replace them with the provided linings for the 2017 iPad. This was a difficult process - I ended up leaving the little pieces of paper that cover the sticky stuff on the linings, until I had positioned the linings, and then removed the paper. Additionaly every time I pull the iPad out of the hinges, I have to re-set the rubber linings. It's pretty obvious that Brydge did not intend this to be a quick release device.). And one small issue: the on/off button is directly above the "delete" key on the keyboard, and the first few days I had the keyboard I whammed away on that key thinking it was the delete. It's taken the week to get used to re-positioning my finger to hit the delete. Overall this is a real good keyboard. My summary: 1) Really heavy 2) Think of it as a permanant attachment to your iPad If and when Logitech comes out with a solid keyboard of the 2017iPad I will probably go back to it, giving up the backlights. But I the meantime this is a good product.

This is the second Brydge Air keyboard I've owned, and it is nice to see some logical advances in the design. It is still the best looking keyboard I've seen for the iPad Pro, and matches the design philosophy and build materials of the iPad perfectly. I like the fact that they've abandoned the included speakers (which weren't as good as the iPad Pro speakers anyway) and have instead focused on improving the functionality of the keyboard itself. One great addition is that the keyboard now functions like a "Smart" case and turns the iPad on/off when opening or closing. This is but one of many little feature improvements that I've seen.

I thought I had ordered something that would be an iPad case and a keyboard and was a little disappointed when I saw that it was just a keyboard with hinges. Now I am very happy. It is a screen protector and a case of sorts and the hinges are strong, but I can get my iPad out if I need to. The keyboard works well. I have been able to use it like a laptop while I am traveling.
