...as my Brydge is again fully discharged. I have been a big fan of Brydge for iPad; this is the fourth one I have purchased over the years for friends, family and me. Brydge keyboards have a substantial feel to them, I like the key action and backlit keys, and before this one they stayed charged for a long period. This one was easier to mount into hinges than others and the concern about cracking the screen was not a factor. This keyboard is attractive and I have received compliments about it. About three weeks after initial charging, however, the keyboard was dead. OK, maybe i used it too much and this was to be expected...but I really only use it for nightly email and web surfing. Since then, i have been charging once each five to ten days. While I never expected a charge to last a year, a week to ten days of moderate use is ridiculous. i also dislike the lag in waiting for bluetooth to recognize the keyboard before I can type. If I stop typing for even a brief time and then re-start, i will type two/three characters before I realize those first few are missing. The Brydge/iPad I passed on to my wife does not have that problem. Finally, the protective magnetic cover detaches so easily that I gave up on it long ago. After getting my new iPad for Christmas in 2018, I was as impatient as anyone waiting for this keyboard to go into full production and be shipped. Now, I may be shopping for a new one.

I love my 11” iPad Pro and I was hyped about this keyboard. The unboxing was pleasant and I began using it immediately. I have now used it for a few weeks and I keep it attached to my iPad Pro 80% of the time. Although, I have NOT used any other keyboards with my iPad Pro, these are my pros/cons on this product: PROS: Premium build MacBook look and feel Function keys Backlit keys Battery life (kinda) Key travel and typing experience, overall USB-C CONS: Keys must be deliberately (with more pressure or right on the center of the key) pressed Battery does NOT last 1 year (I think I have charged it 2x-3x in the short time I’ve had it) Adds considerable weight/bulk Alternate “viewing angles” are inconvenient (I use it in keyboard mode or not at all) Rubber on hinges can be finicky Doesn’t use smart connection Offers no protection for the iPad or pencil If you’re a fan of the MacBook look and want to make your iPad Pro look and feel like a laptop, but don’t care about the added bulk, this keyboard is a great option. If you’re looking for something thinner, lighter, more convenient to attach, and/or offers drop protection, you may prefer a different keyboard, such as Apple’s Smart Keyboard Folio (light and convenient for that person always on the go) or Logitech’s Slim Folio Pro (for the person looking for protection).

This case is well worth the price. It feels well made and sturdy. It’s very convenient to type with as it connects almost instantly and feels great. It adds a fair bit of weight to the iPad but I actually like that about it. The rubber clamps that the iPad sits in were a topic of concern for me, and they are finicky but if you insert and remove the ipad when the case is in the “closed laptop” position they are very easy to use. My one complaint would be that with the 12.9 inch version, some obtuse viewing angles do not hold. Tapping the screen can send the iPad tipping back a few degrees which is annoying. Drawbacks aside, this is a fantastic purchase. (I also really like the magnetic back plate.)
