“I was quite dissapointed with the Tandy Alphabet set. The individual letters are made in such a way that the spacing between the letters varies from letter to letter. For example, the space from the actual letter to the outside body of the stamp on an 'I' is different to that of an 'M' making it nigh impossible to keep equal spacing between the letters. The set should be designed exactly the same as letterpress type where the space between the type face to the outside body of the type was the same making each letter body slightly different in width so that when the individual letters are place together in a row the distances between the letters is the same. The set is quite cheap but still not really worth the money considering the hassle getting the spaces the same on a word of more than one letter! I am considering filing the body of certain letters down to make the set more usable. I contacted Tandy in the U.K. about the set who were sympathetic but ultimately the problem lies with Tandy in the U.S.A. and the company in Thailand (I believe) who manufacture the set. Tandy should consider redesigning the set so that constant practice strikes with the letters are unnessesary. Not recommended.”
