The winch is ever better than I could have possibly thought. Used it to pul out a mate from a very big bog hole down tassies west coast

Well priced, well packed with features, and well, its just a hell of a winch! After ordering the Carbon 12K online delivery was quick, only a couple of days from order. I fitted the winch myself including installation of a new ARB Summit bar, to my 2015 Landcruiser 200 series. Everything fitted perfectly, right down to the battery cable length which was sufficient to allow good routing rather than just going point to point. The winch pulls nearly 4 tonne of loaded 'Cruiser out of anything I've had it stuck in. If I was to change one thing, it would be to have it supplied with a flat link rather than a hook.

Very happy with product, it’s at least 15kg lighter than my previous winch. That takes a bit of stress of the front end. It’s also better made, with available spare parts in Australia which makes life easier not having to contact Japan or China for repairs or spare parts.

My name is Tony Vaughan and I run All Tracks 4WD Training and Tours out of Cairns in FNQ. I believe that I was one of the first commercial operators to run a Carbon Winch on a vehicle used for Training and Tours. I see that Tim Bates from my old stomping ground on the Mornington Peninsula has also grabbed the opportunity to experience a Carbon Winch. I spoke with Dan Kozaris when I enquired about the Carbon Winch and his assurance, confidence in the product and his expertise helped me make up my mind. The winch has, in reality, worked solidly for 2 years but possibly done 4 years worth of normal 4WD work. I utilise the winch as part of the training scenarios, not just winching vehicles but also moving tree's. I live in Cairns, the tropics are cruel on equipment, 3 months of monsoonal wets and heat and humidity each year take a toll on any equipment, especially electrical items. The winch has been used in all sorts of recoveries, sand, rock, and black soil, this bottomless goo not only strains equipment it gums up everything. The Carbon winch did close to 30 double pull recoveries (snatch block) to move 3 vehicles that often sank to the floor pans of the dual cabs plus a 2-tonne dual axle trailer which we disconnected to un bog... In places, we needed to winch vehicles sideways to get them around trees. So how did the Carbon Winch go? It worked and worked. we did run a duty cycle to ensure that the battery could hold up, this also helped keep the winch cool, but with the automatic brake in the motor housing drum plate, there was no, or little heat-build up on drum which is vital with Dyneema or plasma rope. So why am I writing this update? I have just pulled the winch out and sent it back to Carbon Winch at KPD in Victoria to do a winch service. I am also replacing the rope which has worked hard and has faded over the past couple of years (we get lots of sunshine up this way). Carbon Winch offers this service to ensure that their product is the best it can be. It also enables them to see any potential problems, failure, wear and tear to go with their industry best warranty. I look forward to having my winch serviced and I am sure that it will be on the front of my vehicle for the next few years. Thanks to Carbon Winches, KPD Industries and especially Dan for the excellent product and service.
