“These were a gift so I didn't taste them, but the recipient loved them. Her mom always made here a pineapple upside down cake for her birthday. Her mom passed away, so I sent these to her this year in memory of her mom.”
“Personally, I liked these cakes, but my wife was less than impressed, so splitting the difference and giving 3 stars. I thought the cakes were moist and tasted quite good - but admittedly, I'm not very picky, especially when it comes to desserts. I've been in groups where I could be pretty much the only person who likes something. My wife's opinion was that this had no flavor - it was just overwhelming sugar/sweetness. I can see why she would say that, as this cake is pretty sweet. But I like sweet things (and consider sweet a type of flavor), whereas I think my wife was looking for more specific flavors of pineapple and cake. So from that perspective, I can see why she would think the sugar was overwhelming and it's true you don't get much pineapple flavor, just generic sweetness.”
“These were FANTASTIC! Only issue is that the bottom (really the top of the cake once you invert) was a little cold so we'll try cooking them longer than the instructions say next time.”
