Describe the aspects of your itinerary that you thought needs improving I thought the land excursions were kinda pointless. It seems the purpose was to just to walk a few feet on land. Unlike the landing trips in Antarctica where the purpose was to see the wild life or to hike to a vantage point or to visit a working research station etc. Also, on this trip the lectures were mostly done by expedition guides while in Antarctica the lecturers were experts in their respective fields (climatologist, historian, ornithologist, marine biologist etc).

Describe the aspects of your itinerary that you thought worked really well. More than enough activities were provided such as morning and afternoon Zodiak cruises or landings, end of the day recaps as well as presentations by various team members addressing topics such as wildlife, Geology, Glaciers/Icebergs. Every staff members were friendly and helpful.

“From start to finish, every day was a new adventure. Variety of wildlife, changing scenery. The Ocean Explorer ship was ideal for Arctic Exploration. All guides were knowledgeable in their field of expertise. Safety was paramount throughout the trip. In all, we enjoyed every minute of the Arctic.”

Describe the aspects of your itinerary that you thought worked really well. The coordination of the zodiac trips and hikes was excellent. The care of the wildlife, not wanting to disturb them in their natural habitat, was commendable. The ship stopping for guests to view the whales swimming past, taking time to allow photo opportunities, being able to reschedule activities if required was wonderful.

“The Arctic is a wonderful place to visit. I learnt so much about the wildlife that live there, the inhabitants and their way of life, the wildflowers, birds, glaciers. There is so much to learn and what we should be doing to help alleviate global warming. A real eyeopener to learn how the glaciers are melting and the animals are suffering because of this. The landscape is stark but still beautiful.”

Describe the aspects of your itinerary that you thought worked really well. Having a morning and afternoon activity every day and travelling to our destinations of a night time.

Describe the aspects of your itinerary that you thought needs improving Maybe an earlier charter flight out of Longyearbyen. It was a very long day.

Were you satisfied with the efforts taken to minimize environmental impacts during your trip?

“We enjoyed our Artic Cruise. The coordination by the expedition crew to get 160 people dressed in their gear loaded onto zodiacs and everything set up on shore for our arrival was fantastic. The dining staff were attentive and gave good service. The housekeeping crew were always helpful. I would highly recommend this cruise”

Describe the aspects of your itinerary that you thought worked really well. Excursions were great I only went on the zodiac cruises through Food was excellent. Staff were professional and friendly

Describe the aspects of your itinerary that you thought needs improving Departure day was very unorganised. We reached Longyearbyen at 9.00 shops did not open till 10 am. Flights to Helsinki was not till 6.30. South a long day Buses to airport was beyond chaotic.
