“The teacher was really friendly and very knowledgeable about crochet, but because she didn’t want to be too prescriptive about how to hold the crochet needle or yarn, she didn’t actually show us how to do that so as a complete beginner I had no idea how to do anything. I could do the slip knot to get the yarn on the needle, but my single crochets looked really different than her example and I tried to interrupt and ask questions about why but she didn’t seem to get the problem and didn’t help. Her movements were really fast and hard to follow. Maybe the recording will be helpful, but what I really wanted was to ask someone why my crochet was wrong and that’s why I booked the class, but I didn’t get that. We closed the zoom call after 45 mins because there was no point listening about double crochet when we couldn’t get the single right. It would have been better if she paused and made sure we were all ready before moving on.”
