This is a fun activity in Canary Wharf. , London

Looking to get creative and try something new? This beginner-friendly pottery class in London is the perfect way to explore the art of wheel throwing — no experience needed!

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of making pottery on the wheel, guided step-by-step by experienced teacher Amanda, who brings over 17 years of pottery know-how and a relaxed, welcoming teaching style.

With a small class size (max 8 people), you’ll get plenty of individual attention as you learn how to centre your clay, shape your pot, and enjoy the process of creating something from scratch.

Whether you're flying solo, planning a unique date, or coming with friends, you’ll leave feeling proud, grounded, and maybe even a little addicted to the wheel!

Choose Your Creative Experience:

CRAFT – Make a Pot (Take It Home Same Day) Best for one-off experiences & instant creativity.
Use air-dry clay to make your pots, and take them home immediately in a protective box. Once dry, you can paint them at your leisure (we’ll explain how). These are perfect for display — but not food-safe or waterproof.

ART – Make, Paint & Fire a Pot. Perfect for those who want to glaze, fire, and use their creations.
This option includes two visits:
- Your private throwing workshop
- A return visit 1-12 weeks later (Tues pm or Sat am) for a 1.5-hour painting session
We’ll dry and fire your pots twice in our kiln (up to 1220°C) — a process that takes 2–3 weeks. Once fired, your pots will be food-safe, oven- and dishwasher-friendly. You’ll have up to 12 weeks to collect them or request delivery (extra fee applies).

Why People Love This Class:

A great experience! Amanda introduced and demonstrated a variety of skills clearly and repeated them whenever needed. The skills level was just right - challenging but attainable. She was very supportive and patient. My husband and I really enjoyed the afternoon and I have already bought him a gift voucher for follow-up sessions. Thank you Amanda!

Amanda was a really good teacher, great step by step instructions, she showed us first on her wheel and it was our turn afterwards. If someone got stuck, she quickly came over to help. A very fun morning for our daughter’s birthday.

My girlfriend and I did the wheel throwing taster class for valentines and we both loved it. Neither of us had tried wheel throwing before but now we would definitely do it again, super fun date idea. Amanda, our teacher, was really friendly and genuinely helpful with a hands on approach if you needed steering in the right direction. Looking forward to our next visit to paint our creations!

The studio is great, amongst other studios all in shipping containers! We got a lump clay and Amanda walked us through every step. From centering to pulling. She was really kind, friendly, and gave us loads of little tips. End of the day, we walked out with our own pots. Really great experience.
