Get hooked on crochet with our beginner’s tutorial! Enjoy this relaxing craft as you get to grips with the simple skills you’ll need to stitch beautiful designs, with one of our craft experts on hand to guide you through the steps.

This workshop provides a wonderful introduction to the world of crochet, perfect if you’re a complete beginner. Through the course of the workshop, you’ll learn double stitch and treble stitch. You’ll also be shown how to create a chain, working in rows to create a tension square.

You’ll have a craft kit included, ensuring you’ve got the yarn and hook you need. It’s a great opportunity to pick up techniques you can then put into practice when you move on to other patterns.

Throughout the tutorial, you will be able to ask any crochet questions you may have.

Please note, our workshop spaces in some stores are located in open areas and we will endeavour to minimise interruption from other crafters.

Keeping everyone safe
At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

Have never lifted a crochet hook before, came away with a small piece using two different stitches!

I went to a beginners crochet class with the teacher Maria. Maria was an excellent teacher, patient, kind and professional. I was surprised how much I learnt in such a short space of time! I liked that it was a small class- only three of us, which allowed for lots of individual support.

The teacher was very good, however I think there needs to be a fenced off area for the class, not just a table at the back of the store where people can walk past.

Maria is such a great teacher! I took her class last Tuesday and have been addicted to crochet ever since! I really struggled to learn by myself online. Learning the basic with someone really helped me get started! Maria is very kind and patient, I would definitely recommend this class
