This is a fun activity in East Finchley, London

Note: the price shown is based on two people attending the same session.

Private class for two people (ie £180 per person.) Perfect for a date night or treating someone special to a unique activity, in this 1:2 session you will have the studio to yourselves while you dive into the exciting art of glassblowing. I run sessions every weekend and some weekdays.

Taught by Samantha Sweet, a glassblower with over 20 years experience, you will both design, then make 2 glass pieces each which will be yours to keep.

During this experience you will both
– Have a minimum of one hour of hands-on bench time each
– Make a solid glass piece (eg paperweight/candle holder)
– Make a blown glass piece (eg drinking glass/vase/bowl)
– Gather molten glass from a furnace.
– Shape hot glass using a variety of tools.
– Add glass colours of your choice

5 mins walk from East Finchley tube station or free parking is available. Classes are held in my studio with a view over the park.

All materials and safety equipment will be ready and waiting for you, so all you need to do is show up and get ready to create. Refreshments are available during your session.

Please note: Your glass will have to be annealed overnight and have to be picked up or posted out to you at a later date at a cost of £20.00 for all your pieces together.

Absolutely fantastic experience, really hands on and creative. Sam was an amazing teacher, we felt like we learned so much and got a real feeling for working with glass. Plus we have some beautiful objects to cherish at the end! Thanks!

Absolutely excellent class, Sam was a brilliant teacher. I was a little nervous before the class and I didn't know what to expect, but Sam was incredibly attentive and provided clear instructions. We had SO much fun, and were really pleased with what we made. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this class far and wide.

Highly recommend this class! We had an amazing morning with Samantha in her beautiful custom studio behind her house. Everything was clean, safe and well prepared, and she was super personable and acommodating. We were given safety sleeves and goggles and talked through best practice, and asked to sign a H&S waiver. We started with a practice run, getting the hang of molten glass and tools, then looked at lots of fun options to choose from for designing our own pieces. We learned about the craft, a little history and science as we went along, but it was mainly just super hands-on, and we made 2 items each. Top tip: Choose different designs to each other so you can try different techniques & tools! FYI: The pieces need treating after, so are posted for £20 or collectable a few days after the class.

Sam is a very friendly and welcoming teacher, she had a lot of experience and guided us to create our beautiful glass pieces. This was my first time glassblowing and I loved every minute of it. I would highly recommend this class.

My partner and I got a gift card for class bento at Christmas as we both prefer hands on events these days, and we couldn't have been happier with Samanthas experiance. She clearly has a wealth of knowledge and a love of the craft and its material, which endears her as a teacher and makes the time that much more rewarding (the more intimate setting was a major plus in that regard). We made two pieces each, a solid paperwieght and a drinking glass and had ample choices regarding colours and design, with guidance on what was possible, or would look best. We throughly enjoyed the time we spent, and recieving all the momento's safely in the post has been a perfect end.

Wonderful class, perfect to do as a pair. Sam was a delightful teacher who guided us through the process both verbally and practically. My sister and I crafted two beautiful pieces each, through heating glass in the kiln, shaping it on the bench and blowing glass to create vases and glasses! I have a new found appreciation for glassblowing and hand made glassware. Thank you Sam!

Amazing experience, Sam was so enthusiastic and encouraging, giving the perfect amount of advice whilst letting us get hands on and do the glassblowing ourselves. We made a candle holder each, a glass, and a vase, and can’t wait to pick them up! Would thoroughly recommend booking this experience.
