This is a fun activity in Manchester

Just a five-minute walk from Ancoats, discover pottery at the New Dawn Pottery studio in Manchester.

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 2-hour wheel throwing class is the ideal choice if you've always wanted to learn to throw a pot on the wheel in a fun, supportive environment.

Experience the magic of turning a lump of clay into your own handmade piece of art. You'll throw under the guidance of one of our friendly local teachers, who has plenty of tips to share, and you'll come away with the foundational skills for making beautiful pots on the wheel.

Beyond the new skill, there's the calm — wheel throwing is genuinely meditative, and two hours of it is a proper reset. Step into this warm and welcoming studio and leave with your own handmade pottery.

There's space for 8 people per class, so everyone gets their own wheel and individual attention. It's ideal for date nights, birthdays, friends, or coming on your own to try something new in Manchester.

At the end of the session, choose your favourite pieces to be glazed and fired in our kiln for £7.50 each, with a wide range of glaze colours to pick from. Finished ceramics are food-safe and usually ready to collect within 4-6 weeks. We can post them to you if you can't get back to the studio.

Please note
- Please arrive on time — if you're late you may miss the demo.
- No liability is accepted for misuse of the studio space.

“Such good fun. The teacher Dulse (?) was so lovely and welcoming. She was keen to help and made you feel good about what you were able to achieve. Love how relaxed it was / it didn’t feel like a rush to get you out - eg 5 min until the end and other guests were still getting fresh clay.id definitely go back and recommend to anyone who wants to try their hand at pottery.”

“Phillipa was excellent- putting us at ease and breaking down the technique by first showing, then assisting and finally tweaking techniques. We felt confident, even with no previous experience and created a range of interesting and actually very good pots! What an excellent experience!!”
