This is a fun activity in Manchester

Just a five-minute walk from Ancoats, discover pottery at the New Dawn Pottery studio in Manchester.

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 2-hour wheel throwing class is the ideal choice if you've always wanted to learn to throw a pot on the wheel in a fun, supportive environment.

Experience the magic of turning a lump of clay into your own handmade piece of art. You'll throw under the guidance of one of our friendly local teachers, who has plenty of tips to share, and you'll come away with the foundational skills for making beautiful pots on the wheel.

Beyond the new skill, there's the calm — wheel throwing is genuinely meditative, and two hours of it is a proper reset. Step into this warm and welcoming studio and leave with your own handmade pottery.

There's space for 8 people per class, so everyone gets their own wheel and individual attention. It's ideal for date nights, birthdays, friends, or coming on your own to try something new in Manchester.

At the end of the session, choose your favourite pieces to be glazed and fired in our kiln for £7.50 each, with a wide range of glaze colours to pick from. Finished ceramics are food-safe and usually ready to collect within 4-6 weeks. We can post them to you if you can't get back to the studio.

Please note
- Please arrive on time — if you're late you may miss the demo.
- No liability is accepted for misuse of the studio space.

“Really enjoyable! Our instructor was lovely and very patient throughout the whole session. She helped us when we needed it but also left us to our own devices when we were doing well.”

“Fun experience, never done before, but loved it. Got delayed arriving on time, but instructor welcomed us warmly and helped us get up to speed with the others, guiding us through the preliminary instructions. She had a good teaching manner, friendly and supportive, demonstrating clearly and praising everyone’s efforts. Made 3 pots and chose our best one to fire and glaze. Asked for it to be posted to us when ready as we’d travelled a distance so wouldn’t be back personally to collect.”

“I booked on to their beginners class. I absolutely loved it. It’s so relaxing and the girls who were running the class were so lovely and help you throughout. I booked this for me and my friend for our Christmas party and it was such a wholesome start to the festivities. 100% would recommend. We’d both love to go back soon!!”

Great chatting with the other attendees too. Bonus - classical music in the background! Highly recommend for beginners, this class makes pottery so much more approachable!”
