This is a fun activity in Manchester

Just a five-minute walk from Ancoats, discover pottery at the New Dawn Pottery studio in Manchester.

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 2-hour wheel throwing class is the ideal choice if you've always wanted to learn to throw a pot on the wheel in a fun, supportive environment.

Experience the magic of turning a lump of clay into your own handmade piece of art. You'll throw under the guidance of one of our friendly local teachers, who has plenty of tips to share, and you'll come away with the foundational skills for making beautiful pots on the wheel.

Beyond the new skill, there's the calm — wheel throwing is genuinely meditative, and two hours of it is a proper reset. Step into this warm and welcoming studio and leave with your own handmade pottery.

There's space for 8 people per class, so everyone gets their own wheel and individual attention. It's ideal for date nights, birthdays, friends, or coming on your own to try something new in Manchester.

At the end of the session, choose your favourite pieces to be glazed and fired in our kiln for £7.50 each, with a wide range of glaze colours to pick from. Finished ceramics are food-safe and usually ready to collect within 4-6 weeks. We can post them to you if you can't get back to the studio.

Please note
- Please arrive on time — if you're late you may miss the demo.
- No liability is accepted for misuse of the studio space.

“Finding the venue was a bit tricky... And parking says it's restricted to 90 mins only, but luckily wasn't enforced. Teacher (Chris) was brilliant... Friendly and very helpful. Had a great time.”

“My girlfriend and I decided to book onto this pottery class. We thought the teacher was very good at her craft and was patient explaining the process of making pottery. I liked the fact she gave time 1-1 for all of us. I can't wait to see the finished product of my bowl. Would highly recommend this class.”

“It was an amazing time spent. 2 great hours of relaxing and enjoyable time. There were couples, friends and even people on their own. The teacher, Dulce, made it look so easy and passed on this confidence on us to be able to express our inner creativity into the clay. 10000000% recommend!”

“What a wonderful class! Super informative, loelvdly relaxed vibe. The teacher went through everything and then we got to do our own pottery and she was so good when mine collapsed which can happen as beginners ! We left with a lot of fun, memories, new skills and now waiting for our cups to dry and fire so we can collect them in 4 weeks ! Will definitely do something like this again, it was a perfect date idea !”
