This is a fun activity in Manchester

Just a five-minute walk from Ancoats, discover pottery at the New Dawn Pottery studio in Manchester.

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 2-hour wheel throwing class is the ideal choice if you've always wanted to learn to throw a pot on the wheel in a fun, supportive environment.

Experience the magic of turning a lump of clay into your own handmade piece of art. You'll throw under the guidance of one of our friendly local teachers, who has plenty of tips to share, and you'll come away with the foundational skills for making beautiful pots on the wheel.

Beyond the new skill, there's the calm — wheel throwing is genuinely meditative, and two hours of it is a proper reset. Step into this warm and welcoming studio and leave with your own handmade pottery.

There's space for 8 people per class, so everyone gets their own wheel and individual attention. It's ideal for date nights, birthdays, friends, or coming on your own to try something new in Manchester.

At the end of the session, choose your favourite pieces to be glazed and fired in our kiln for £7.50 each, with a wide range of glaze colours to pick from. Finished ceramics are food-safe and usually ready to collect within 4-6 weeks. We can post them to you if you can't get back to the studio.

Please note
- Please arrive on time — if you're late you may miss the demo.
- No liability is accepted for misuse of the studio space.

“Had a fantastic time a friendly environment, buts it's harder than I expected , we were shown how to do it very well and thoroughly at a pace we could all follow and if we had any problems help was at hand immediately. Can't wait to pick up my pot”

“Frida is a fantastic teacher, very clear and calm. Everything was demonstrated clearly and everyone was given as much help as they needed. 2 hours flies by and this class is a really good introduction to pottery if you’ve never used a wheel before”

“our instructor, Dulce (to rhyme with 'pulse'!) was lovely and so helpful, she gave everyone individual attention after the initial instructions to the small class. She was really encouraging and attentive and ensured that everyone had something they were happy with by the end of the class. I had been bought my class as a gift with a gift card and it was super easy to get booked in on the website and there was a lot of choice of days and times.”

“We had a great time under Dulse’s supervision. It was a surprise for our friends 60th Birthday and all 7 of us had a great time. We made some great pottery and will be heading back to collect our finished pieces next week. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone. Thank you Dulce”
