This is a fun activity in Manchester

Just a five-minute walk from Ancoats, discover pottery at the New Dawn Pottery studio in Manchester.

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 2-hour wheel throwing class is the ideal choice if you've always wanted to learn to throw a pot on the wheel in a fun, supportive environment.

Experience the magic of turning a lump of clay into your own handmade piece of art. You'll throw under the guidance of one of our friendly local teachers, who has plenty of tips to share, and you'll come away with the foundational skills for making beautiful pots on the wheel.

Beyond the new skill, there's the calm — wheel throwing is genuinely meditative, and two hours of it is a proper reset. Step into this warm and welcoming studio and leave with your own handmade pottery.

There's space for 8 people per class, so everyone gets their own wheel and individual attention. It's ideal for date nights, birthdays, friends, or coming on your own to try something new in Manchester.

At the end of the session, choose your favourite pieces to be glazed and fired in our kiln for £7.50 each, with a wide range of glaze colours to pick from. Finished ceramics are food-safe and usually ready to collect within 4-6 weeks. We can post them to you if you can't get back to the studio.

Please note
- Please arrive on time — if you're late you may miss the demo.
- No liability is accepted for misuse of the studio space.

“Really fun class but felt abit rushed, I know you can’t learn it in a day even with more time but felt like more practice was needed as I found it difficult coz I found out I really don’t have a light touch”

“Had such a great time at New Dawn Pottery! My best friend and I booked it just to try something different, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our week. There were 8 of us in the group, and the instructor Dolce was so lovely—really friendly and calm. She explained everything clearly at the start and helped us along the way, especially when I was struggling with the wheel (I had a few wobbly pots to start with ). She let me try a few times and was super encouraging, and in the end I got to keep my favourite one. The whole experience was really relaxed and fun. We got some cute photos and had loads of laughs. It wasn’t about being perfect—just enjoying the moment and trying something new. Now I’m counting down the 5 weeks until we can pick up our pieces and see how they turn out after glazing! Would definitely recommend if you’re after something creative and low-pressure to do with a friend. Such a nice way to spend an afternoon. Thanks again, New Dawn Pottery!”
