This is a fun activity in London Bridge, London

Just a two-minute walk from London Bridge station, discover the calming joy of pottery at Maison S.Sommet.

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 2-hour wheel throwing class is a chance to unwind, get messy and create your own functional ceramics in our warm and welcoming studio. Guided step by step by our expert teachers, you'll learn the foundations of wheel throwing before making your own cup, bowl or ceramic vessel. Even complete beginners are often surprised by what they create in a single session.

We provide everything you need including unlimited clay, tools and aprons — just dress comfortably and trim your nails beforehand for the best experience. The studio is fully air conditioned, so it stays comfortable whatever the weather is doing outside.

At the end of the session, choose your favourite pieces to be professionally glazed and kiln-fired in either our signature Cobalt Blue or Clear stoneware glaze, for £10 per piece. Finished ceramics are food-safe, microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe, and are usually ready for collection within 4-5 weeks.

Perfect for date nights, birthdays, friends or solo creatives looking to try something new in London. Bring your own favourite drinks along to top off the experience.

Clay, music, good company and your new favourite mug.

“Milo was great! They gave helpful step-by-step instructions, lots of encouragement and was really friendly. The class was quite busy and everyone seemed to really enjoy it: it was a nice vibe. I couldn't believe how fast the session went - we were so absorbed! We booked this event as a surprise for my friend's birthday and she loved it. The sessions are apparently moving to London Bridge soon which I think will make them more accessible and possibly even more popular so book early!”

“The teachers were very helpful and kind; the teaching was very well done and the instructions very clear. I loved the studio and the space and materials that we each got. I felt encouraged to try and make mistakes and ask for help. My only concern was that with one hour to try and craft, having 2 teachers for the class of 12 meant it was difficult to receive feedback and help when creating, which led to the last hour being very stressful for us. If viewing this as a trial experience with the clay, rather than to create take home products or skill-up, I would highly recommend for a first timer!”

“Having gotten a pottery making gift card for a loved one (the process for which was really easy), we came down as a belated Christmas celebration to get a feel for pottery throwing. I really enjoyed the session, the studio was lovely and gorgeously lit, both of our teachers were super encouraging, clear and helpful throughout, and I felt like it truly was great value for money considering how much you could make yourself in such a short time frame. I would love to go back, and would recommend it for any creative person looking for a new activity to do on a rainy afternoon!”

“Got this class as a gift for a birthday and it was so much fun! The teachers gave really clear easy instructions and were around to help out whenever you needed. Plenty of free time to keep trying to make as many pots as possible. Would definitely recommend and want to go back!”
