This is a fun activity in Edinburgh

** I’m very flexible on dates, so if you’ve a group of two or more you’re most welcome to book a “private class”. as long as the desired date have have no other attendees signed in. (please give a few alternatives)

Most classes now start at 10am. **

Design and make your very own Copper A6 pocket book or the larger A5 Journal.

In this class, you will learn the practical skills needed to create a copper-fronted journal.

You'll be guided through the process of embossing and ageing the copper and thereafter bind the paper using a simple Japanese ‘stab’ binding technique, allowing it to be opened completely flat - perfect for note-taking and sketching.

Don't worry if you're a beginner - this workshop is designed for those with a desire to create for themselves. You'll learn how to bind the pages (180 gsm ivory paper stock), create hardcovers from reclaimed copper and leather (Vegan leatherette available), sew paper, and handle various materials, tools, and adhesives.

Experience the ancient art of metalwork and the craft of bookbinding, developing hand skills and creativity along the way.

The atmosphere in the studio will be warm and welcoming, with plenty of refreshments to keep you energised.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have not only gained new skills and confidence but also have your journal to take home. It's the perfect opportunity for book lovers, artists, and writers looking to delve into a rich and versatile craft.

I booked this as a gift for my partner’s birthday, and it was a fabulous day. Will was in touch before hand to get our ideas add source material to prep for the class. On the day Will was great, and really helped us get the best out of the topics we had chosen. He has so much skill and knowledge and just being in the space was a wonderful experience. Seeing the transformation from a freah shiny sheet of copper to the tarnished aged plate, then onto the notebook was magical. I was so pleased with the finished notebook, and would definitely recommend the workshop.

Had a great day with Will. Cant believe what I produced at the end of it. His skill, knowledge and teaching methods help make creating the books easier than you think so if you think you need any prior talent, you dont. Give it a go, you'll be glad you did. It's great to have something at the end you can be proud of that you've made, to be able to gift or keep.

The workshop was such an enjoyable experience and thank you to Will for being so helpful throughout the whole process. It was a fascinating look into repoussé and book creation — and we now have our very own unique handmade items that we can keep forever. We would definitely recommend this class to others!

Absolutely loved this class! Me and my two friends booked a private class as a festive treat and we loved every minute of it. Informative and creative, it was the perfect way to spend a chilly winter day in Edinburgh. I can absolutely reccomend this to everyone, regardless of skill set.
