Unlock the art of golden repair in Manchester with our enchanting Kintsugi workshop at Expo Lounge in Didsbury

Join Manchester’s original and longest-running Kintsugi workshop for a relaxing afternoon of creativity at Expo Lounge in Didsbury!

Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold, highlighting its cracks rather than hiding them. The idea is simple but beautiful: something can be changed by its experiences and still be valued, celebrated and made beautiful again.

During this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn about the history and philosophy behind Kintsugi before breaking and rebuilding your own pottery. You’ll be guided through the process step by step, from carefully fitting the pieces back together to finishing the cracks with gold.

No previous experience is needed. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, with plenty of support throughout. Come alone, bring a friend or book it as a thoughtful and unique date.

You’ll receive:

- Two pieces of pottery of your choice, to repair.
- All specialist materials and tools.
- Step-by-step guidance from an experienced artist.
- A beautiful gold finish.
- Protective packaging to take your work home safely.
- Two finished Kintsugi pieces to keep and display!

The process is creative, satisfying and naturally mindful. You can slow down, focus on working with your hands and enjoy turning something broken into something completely unique.

The workshop is led by The Creative Society Manchester, an award-winning independent arts organisation known for its welcoming cultural and heritage-inspired creative experiences.

Our home at Expo Lounge in Didsbury offers a cosy and informal setting. Food and drinks are available to purchase from the venue’s full menu throughout the session.

All materials are included and complete beginners are very welcome.

Join us and discover why this has become one of Manchester’s best-loved Kintsugi workshops.

“Absolutely outstanding class! And I've attended and taught many, many workshops in my time. The teacher was brilliant, she was so knowledgable, patient and hands on. The venue was great! The business owner even came over to chat with us all and make sure we had everything. She was super friendly and lovely! We laughed a LOT. We had loads of encouragement and tips throughout the session and top quality materials to use. We both made something we loved, once we practiced the skill. Can't praise it highly enough!”

“The teachers were very friendly and welcoming! Turns out Kintsugi is quite hard but I managed to make a plate I was proud of. I'd definitely do other courses with them”

“The class was really good fun and the teacher was very knowledgeable and attentive. It's a great way to meet people. Unfortunately I am not a natural at Kintsugi but that didn't stop me having a fun afternoon.”

“Fantastic course and very easy to get a basic skill in Kintsugi. The lecturer was very patient and made sure all attendees were supported while making more time for the ones that needed some extra help. All supplied materials were ample to get the job done and clearly some thought when to the organisation of the course including prepared packaging to take your new art pieces home afterwards!”
