This is a fun activity in Highgate, London

In this North London baking class, you'll learn the step-by-step process of making sourdough bread, focaccia, and pizza. You’ll also create your own sourdough focaccia, customising it with your choice of toppings from pre-fermented dough.

We'll cover how to maintain a healthy, active sourdough starter and explore what to do with any leftover starter, including making sourdough pancakes and crackers.

At the end of the session, you'll enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch, including the creations made during class.

Plus, you'll take home your own sourdough starter, a loaf of Bernie's Bakehouse sourdough, a dough scraper, and recipe sheets to help you continue your sourdough journey.

I'm very happy with my experience with Bernie. I spent a lovely morning with friendly people. She created a great environment and we had a chance to practice certain aspects of the baking process. I can't wait to try the starter at home and make my first focacca.

The class was very relaxed and fun, and we covered a lot in the four hours we had (including lunch). It was so helpful to have Nicole there, showing us her method and answering our questions in person—especially since there's so much conflicting and confusing information online. I thought all of the breads we made were delicious, and Nicole's instructions were easy to follow. I also now know what to do with my sourdough discard (crackers and pancakes!). Highly recommended—you’ll have a great time if baking (and eating) is your thing! Lee

I had a great time at Berni's Bakehouse workshop and enjoyed learning all about how to make great sourdough and getting hands on with focaccia and pizza. Host Nicole was lovely and delivered a really engaging workshop. I would recommend the workshop to anyone new to baking or looking to improve their baking skills.

Really enjoyed this workshop with Nicole. We learned so much and loved how much was packed into the day. Walked away with a lot of information, sourdough starter and lots of yummy recipes, as well as a lovely goody bag! Nicole was so warm and friendly. Would definitely recommend this workshop to anyone!

Bought this class for my partner as a gift and we both went. It was so nice and intimate, we could ask any questions. Nicole is a amazing teacher and demonstrated everything clearly. We went home and started baking the same weekend! Highly recommend!

Honestly had the best day with Nicole, it exceeded all of my expectations! It was a lovely intimate small group so felt like I was able to learn a lot, the bread was lovely and there was just so much attention to detail- the class was rounded off with a lovely lunch to accompany the food we made and we got to take home some starter too and a loaf of sourdough, Nicole was the perfect teacher, so thoughtful!

I had the absolute pleasure of attending Nicole’s sourdough baking class, and it was such a memorable experience! We learned how to make sourdough bread, focaccia, and pizza from scratch, as well as creative and practical ways to use leftover starter, which was a great bonus. Nicole is a fabulous and knowledgeable host — warm, welcoming, and passionate about her craft. Her love for sourdough really shines through in the way she teaches, and her approach made the class feel relaxed, fun, and hands-on. After all the kneading, stretching, and baking, Nicole treated us to a delicious lunch of soup, salad, and hummus — all enjoyed alongside the focaccia and pizzas we’d just made. It was the perfect way to round off the day. Thank you, Nicole, for a lovely experience we’ll all remember and treasure.
