Beginner's Guide to Pointillism Art Class Reviews

Read ClassBento UK Reviews

Discover the incredible effects that you can create with pointillism! This wonderful art technique uses tiny dots of various different colours to create an optical illusion where the dots blend in the viewer’s eye.

Guided by one of our expert Hobbycraft Artisans, you will learn all about how to prepare your artwork and how to recreate this fascinating technique, invented by the artist Seurat. You can choose to follow along with your own materials or book with a craft kit included.

Pointillism combines creativity and precision, but you’ll love watching the picture begin to appear. Learn how to build colour and vibrance by adding more of a specific colour of dots, keeping everything small and delicate as you produce your very own masterpiece.

The class will take an online webinar format, giving you the opportunity to watch a live demonstration of the project while also being able to ask any questions. The host will lead you through different acrylic techniques over the course of two hours, taking you through the steps of mixing and layering your colours and adding depth to the piece.

You’ll be shown all the steps required allowing you to paint along, or you can work on your piece at any pace you choose. You will also receive a how-to video which will be live for 12 months after the class to help guide you along in your own time.

Simply select your chosen design from the dropdown menu to join the right workshop for you. You can choose from one Seurat-inspired piece, one Van Gogh-inspired piece and one created by our Hobbycraft Artisan.

This workshop is also available as a private workshop for group bookings with craft kits of 5+.

It would have been a lot better had I received my kit. As it was I had to scramble around to find some materials to work with

Teacher was great and she provided insights into the history of pointillism in between her directions. It was interesting and I learned new things. The teacher was so right in 'trust the process' as initially the picture looked almost childish but after a few layers of colour it started to come together. I chose this course to use my gift voucher on and the process was very easy.

I didn't hear the lady say her name but she appeared friendly and welcoming. The pace was set for a total beginner and there was masses of time to achieve one painting. Pointillism is a series of tiny dots but this workshop was using the brushes and making small brush marks and brush strokes instead. I have done Pointillism before using the technique of tiny dots and it was very effective calming and enjoyable. Maybe I should have done my own thing with the idea today. Will repeat the picture and see which one is better! I think I might possibly already know the answer to that! Thank you

I enjoyed the class, the technic was new to me and I certainly learnt something although my creation was nothing like the teachers. I will give the painting another try on my own.

Great value for money. It's a lovely beginner workshop. I didn't get anywhere near finished. But I know what I need to do now to continue

Really enjoyed the class and painting along, only criticism is that it went a little fast at times and moved on to the next bit without checking that everyone was keeping up. I would definitely do another one though.
