What we do Learn:
In this 3.5-hour art class in London, you will explore and learn professional watercolour techniques, including wet-on-wet, and dry-on-dry, using the highest quality painting materials available on the market. By the end of your first class, you will complete a full watercolor landscape painting.

Throughout the session, we'll guide you in recreating a painting, ensuring you grasp each step from sketching to inking, and ultimately to applying watercolour. We provide four landscape watercolour painting samples, allowing you to choose your preferred subject matter. Each sample focuses on specific techniques for practice.

Additionally, we'll show you how to select various watercolour tools from the art shop. This includes selecting suitable watercolor paper, mounting techniques, choosing pigments, and matching them with your brushes. We will also provide tips on using all the materials, so you don't need to prepare any tools in advance.

The Material we use:
We believe that using the finest materials is the key to truly falling in love with watercolour. That's why we provide only the best for our students:

Paper: Arches 300g, 100% cotton paper, the world-standard for professionals.
Paints: Daniel Smith artist-grade paints, celebrated for their unparalleled vibrancy.
Brushes: Soft squirrel hair brushes for beautiful, fluid strokes.

Our Unique Preparation: To ensure a flawless painting experience, your paper is professionally wet-mounted by the instructor before you arrive. This crucial, time-consuming process prevents the paper from buckling, allowing you to paint with freedom on a perfectly flat surface.

This is a fabulous workshop, and a wonderful way to spend a Saturday. I have not done any form of visual art since I was a child, and I was more than a little bit nervous. Vencho was very good at putting everyone at ease. We started with choosing a landscape to reproduce, and were shown how to transfer a light sketch to paper. An intoduction to basic watercolour techniques followed, and then we got to work. As we paused to allow areas of painting to dry Vencho would outline the next steps, or share some of her extensive knowledge about watercolour painting and processes. She also shared information on what to look out for when shopping for art supplies if you wanted to start watercolour as a hobby. When the finishing touches had been applied, the pictures were placed on a cardboard mount. Vencho was very patient when I didn't quite get something the first time round. The small group size meant that we had plenty of support and help when it was needed. We didn't stop for a break during the workshop, but Vencho kept us supplied with a lovely delicate chinese tea. I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, and came away with a picture that I am delighted with, particularly since I have never painted before. I loved the process, and I have discovered a hobby that I will take great delight exploring. Thank you for a lovely time.

Brilliant class. Very relaxed, small group, lots of one to one support. Vencho was a lovely teacher, was engaging and made the class fun. I will be looking at other classes she runs and booking again! Was able to purchase products used at the end and have come away informed of what else I can purchase to set me on my watercolour painting journey. Thoroughly enjoyed, thank you!
