“I did the Indian cooking class course and had menu 1. Very tasty food and a fun experience. However, I docked it a star for the naan bread. You make the dough yourself in the class, as you should, but you also cook the same dough in the same class, so it only has about an hour to proof. This meant we had naan bread that was more like pita bread than actual puffy, chewy, nice naan. I would have expected for £120 that they would let us make the dough ourselves, then give us pre-proofed dough that had been given time to rise for several hours rather than use the same dough and get disappointing bread. It could also be the fact that you cook the bread in a pan on the hob (which you would do at home anyway, unless you have a tandoor oven) that means you simply can’t make restaurant-quality naan by virtue of the cooking apparatus. Either way, the butter chicken, rice, and beef kebabs were amazing, and as I personally wouldn’t go through the faff of making naan at home anyway and would just buy from the store, I do recommend this course to those who are more concerned about learning how to make main Indian dishes. I would suggest they try to improve the naan making experience and provide pre-proofed bread though to get better naan, especially considering that this course is on the more expensive end.”
