Make a garment pattern that fits your measurements. This class is ideal for intermediate sewists and improvers who want to make their own garments.

From your teacher's Canning Town studio, you'll be guided through the steps of making a basic fit block pattern and how it can be used. Your teacher Claire will provide all the equipment you need and will adapt the class based on your abilities. I completed the pattern making class in person. I wanted to produce a block pattern to compare against existing patterns that don't fit me. Claire was walking me through the steps in a calm and encouraging manner. Although very abstract in the beginning - for a relatively new sewer and a first time pattern maker - it all came together and I learned a lot in the process. Claire taught me how to adjust the pattern and how to work with it in the 2 hour class. It is evident that she has a wealth of information that she manages to pass on with easy explanations. We managed to do the block for a top, two further dart options and a sleeve cap. I really enjoyed my class and wouldn't hesitate recommending her to anyone who would like to have a helping hand into the daunting world of pattern drafting. This was not a problem for me, but it may be worth mentioning to others: The class is done standing up in order to reach the slightly elevated table. This is nothing new for experienced sewers but maybe a surprise for newcomers.

The teacher was nice, the class was waist of time as I didn’t get the answer for any of my questions, the pattern was marked and the formals was not explained, just connecting the dots according to her guidance book I was supposed to learn how to draw bodice pattern but I didn’t

Really great class, I learnt alot. Ive not done pattern drafting before and its a complicated subject, this was a great introduction to it. Much easier with a 1-2-1 session as its quite involved. I came home with my block ready for me to create a toile from.

I really enjoyed this class. I am experienced in sewing, but has no prior knowledge of making my own patterns or alter existing ones. I feel very inspired to start working on mine after this class. Highly recommended

A very insightful lesson, learnt so much and really enjoyed everything about pattern making! Didn't feel too confident drafting my own patterns before this workshop however left feeling very confident after.

A very practical and helpful class. In two hours we got straight on with making a personal block pattern with lots of guidance and then we had time to understand how to use it. With a bit of practice I will be able to effectively resize commercial patterns and start to design my own.
