Evelyn was quick to help and gave great advice. We had a very full class and she gave each and every individual a lot of one on one time to make sure they got exactly what they wanted from the class. Will absolutely be back!”
“I wouldn’t recommend this class. While wheel throwing itself is fun and a beautiful art form, the experience was unfortunately let down by the way the class was run, especially the teaching style.
The instructor was overly strict and spoke to the class in a way that felt condescending and patronising, which really sucked the joy and playfulness out of it. Instead of encouraging creativity, she’d scold or shame people for doing things “wrong,” which felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. What happened to being free and playful with clay?
The class was also very full, and I understand that managing a large group takes structure. But there was far too much talking and not enough actual time hands-on with the clay. At times, you’re just sitting there trying to hear her over the loud hum of the wheels, instead of actually getting to experiment and learn by doing.
On top of that, the class feels like an excuse to upsell. You have to pay extra to have your piece glazed or painted—something that really should be included in the price, especially for beginners who are just trying it out.
If you’re looking for a fun, welcoming, and creatively liberating ceramics experience, I’d look elsewhere.”
