“The Candle Making Class was enjoyable. It was conducted by Cristian; one of the co-founders/co-owners of the Nose Best business.
The class began with an explanation of what we were going to be doing. We were presented with a selection of ten (10) ounce candle containers in various colors. Some containers transparent, the remaining non-transparent. Instructed on how to insert the wick. Also, a label was given to each person to place first and last name, in an exercise to make sure each received their candle (more later).
Then notification of being able to select one or two of the available scents from those available. A recommendation by Cristian on how best to select two scents, if that was the desire. Recommendation: Take the two scent samples and in a ferris wheel type motion under your nose to see how the two scents may compliment or detract from one another.
After scent selection, we were instructed thaT for optimum scent to use 30 ml of the two scents, using the dropper within the scent bottle. Of the 30 ml maximum, a 15 ml to 15 ml was the suggestion for an equal scent, 20 ml to 10 ml to highlight one particular scent of the two selected. While we were mixing the scents, Cristian conducted a short "What do you know about candles" fun session. Asked six multiple choice and true/false questions about scents and candle wax.
We were then presented with ten (10) ounces of melted soy wax, instructed to pour scent mixture, timed while we stirred the wax. After mixing the wax and scent for three minutes, poured into the pre-selected ten ounce container. At this point, the candles were collected so Cristian can finish the process. Ensuring wicks were centered and allowing the candles to harden.
It was at this point that the participants were on his/her own to wait for about 45 minutes for the candles to harden sufficiently to take home. Cristian did have some items there to occupy our time, or the students were instructed of shops and food establishments in the immediate area. An aside: there are a few thrift shops around the Nose Best. The participants were also presented with a $5.00 off card to use in the shop. (I used mine to buy two miniture disco balls :-D).
A fun class and recommended by myself for anyone wishing to learn candle making with scents.”
