“I bought a clock mechanism but they were unable to supply the HANDS that go on it. I was offered shorter hands but although large hands are available the6 did not stock them for that particular mechanism. Why sell it in the first place. Their excuse? We say it " may be suitable "”

Hi Mary, Thank you for your feedback. I am not clear on what you are expressing here in your review. We do have a range of hands specific for this movement up to 110mm long (https://www.clockshop.com.au/press-fit-sweep-quartz-hands-assorted-designs) however if you're looking for a movement to drive long hands (over 160mm) then we suggest a high torque movement. These movements for long hands have a different shaft type and the long hands are specific to the euro shaft found on the high torque movements. While we stock and sell a large range of movements, we don't carry every available option and we select our stock carefully to ensure we are selling quality, reliable products. We also have a comprehensive video and step by step DIY guide to help customers understand the limitations of what we have available. There is no excuse for why we well what we sell. When someone requires a specific movement to suit their existing hands, 9 times out of 10 we will have a suitable replacement. If they need new hands then it is up to the customer to either send the parts to us to find a suitable replacement set, or work through the helpful information and guides we provide to make the appropriate selection. The reality is, it "may be suitable" simply means, do your homework and if it is too technical for you to work out yourself, we are happy for the items to be sent to us to assist you with the selection. It is far from a "one size fits all" scenario or a "she'll be right" attitude. There are very specific requirements as you have found out. “Service was first class, the salesperson I spoke to was very helpful and I received the press fit movement within a couple of days. Only issue I had was a need to reduce the spindle diameter for the minute hand slightly as it was too tight to install. The clock is now powered up and working better than the original.”

“It turns out that the movement sent didn’t fit the hands from my wall clock. Angus from the Clock Shop has very kindly sent me new hands and a more suitable movement so finally our issues are resolved. Very happy with the genuine detailed unending help involved from all at the Clock Shop. Thank you, Kraig Carlstrom, Cygnet, Tasmania..”
